On arrival you will be required to check in at our reception desk. If you have not already completed a patient registration form (add link to form here) you will be asked to complete the registration form on arrival (please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment to do this).
Once registered you will be called by one of our ophthalmic assistants, nurse or orthoptist who will take a brief medical history and check your vision. Further testing such as visual fields, OCT or fundus photos may also be undertaken prior to seeing the Doctor depending on your clinical requirements. You may also be required to have drops instilled in your eyes to dilate your pupils.
We advise to allow up to 2 hours for your appointment due to the diagnostic tests that may be required to assist the doctor in reaching a diagnosis

If you are required to have dilating drops in your eye/s, your vision may be blurry for up to 2 hours and in some cases longer. We therefore do not recommend you drive after your appointment.
Northern Eye Specialists is a private ophthalmic specialist clinic. There will be out of pocket charges/gap/co-payment that is required to be paid at the time of the consultation. The fee will vary depending on the consultant that you see and the tests that are performed at the time of your appointment. Please discuss with our friendly staff if you require further information.
Yes, you can have your surgery performed in the private hospital even if you do not have private health insurance. The surgical fees can vary depending on the doctor you see. Please discuss with our friendly staff to discuss the approximate costs of the surgery in a private hospital.
Some doctors may charge an out of pocket charge depending on the surgical procedure. Please discuss out of pocket/gap charges with your surgeon at time of consultation or one of our friendly staff when booking for surgery. Dr Sudha Cugati does not charge out of pocket surgical fees for cataract surgery if you have private health insurance.
Your personal details are stored in an electronic format in a safe and secure environment. These records can be accessed only by the employees of NES or by contractors who are engaged by NES for maintaining the IT support. Please refer to patient privacy policy.
